"EARTH" at MAWSON LAKES
By Ashley, Floyd, Brett, Jason and Mitchell

Mawson Lakes is on the Adelaide Plains. Its fairly flat land, along the coast, but behind us we can see the beginning of the Adelaide hills.

Around our school there are lots of new trees that have just been planted.

Behind our school is a creek called Dry Creek. Sometimes , in winter, the creek gets full because it catches run-off from the rain in the Adelaide foothills, but in summer time it is often dry and empty. Along the creek it is just grass right now, but we are just starting a project to begin re-vegetating the land and returning it to how it would have been before white people came to Australia. We will be planting lots of nativeshrubs and trees and encouraging wild life to return to the area.

There is a suburb called Dry Creek, too. Its quite close to us. At Dry Creek they produce salt by evaporating sea water. sometimes you can see large hills of salt which are drying out.
